Role of Mass Media

On 28th January 2025, Manjusha Museum organized a special educational program for the 7th-grade students of SDM Primary Kannada Medium School, Dharmasthala, centered around the theme: “The Role of Mass Media in Karnataka’s Socio-Economic Development.”

The program was curated by our museum intern,Akshaya as, and aimed to introduce young learners to the powerful influence of mass media through engaging exhibits and interactive learning experiences.

Students were taken on a guided museum tour, with a special emphasis on the Industrial Gallery, where they explored the evolution of industries in Karnataka and their deep-rooted connections with various forms of media. A special exhibition showcasing historical communication tools—Typewriters, Radios, Newspapers, and Telephones—offered students a fascinating glimpse into the progression of mass media over time.

Adding a creative dimension to the program, students participated in a hands-on activity where they were encouraged to imagine and design futuristic gadgets inspired by what they had learned. Their innovative ideas included a speech modulator mic, CCTV camera with net, fire-fighting helicopter, and even a shoe camera—showcasing not only their creativity but also their understanding of media and technology.

The event successfully blended education with creativity, igniting curiosity and innovation in young minds. Manjusha Museum continues to serve as a dynamic space for learning, inspiring future generations to engage with history, technology, and culture in meaningful ways.
